Funded by the State of Florida, Sarasota School of Arts & Sciences (SSA+S) is a tuition-free, multicultural, public charter middle school located in the historic Rosemary district of downtown Sarasota. We strive to provide our students with a safe and intimate learning environment on their quest for academic excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our curriculum includes a program of studies based on the Florida Sunshine State Standard. We take a holistic approach to educating the \u201ctotal\u201d child, which is achieved through an interdisciplinary, thematic methodology that focuses on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain, coupled with input from community partners and involvement in the service learning program. Our small size allows us the flexibility to explore methods and techniques not logistically possible in more traditional school settings. This helps us ensure each child has with the tools and support necessary to be successful in their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarasota is Our Classroom<\/strong>
The SSA+S Board of Directors chose the Rosemary neighborhood because of its proximity to the Selby Public Library and other cultural centers, such as the Asolo Theatre, Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, Florida Studio Theatre, Sarasota Opera House, Selby Botanical Gardens, Mote Marine Aquarium and Research Laboratory, Sarasota’s ABC affiliate WWSB Channel 40, and the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences provides an environment of academic excellence and enrichment, utilizing community partnerships and experiential learning coupled with both traditional and innovative teaching methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrollment and Hours<\/strong>
Families residing in Sarasota and surrounding counties submit student applications online. If the number of applications received exceeds our enrollment capacity, we will conduct a lottery process to fill vacancies. Students must be in the 5th grade or above to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
